Review:
Learn about four kinds of paper crafts: folding, cutting, weaving, and
gluing.
Each section begins with a description of techniques used in the projects
that follow, plus helpful tips. Every step is numbered and accompanied by a
full-color diagram. Among the appealing projects are a butterfly ornament
made by accordion-folding paper shapes cut from colorful magazine pages, and
maracas made by gluing many layers of tissue papier-mâché on old light bulbs
(when it hardens, hit the maraca on the edge of a table so the light bulb
will break and make a rattling sound when shaken). The book ends with
instructions for handmade paper. Don't hesitate to buy this book for your
son if he likes to make things; there are pictures of boys throughout.
