Hot Shot Business

Fall 2003 Video Games
Ages: 9 - 12 yrs.
This online business simulation game for "tweens" is designed to provide a playful experience in opening a business--from finding capital and buying inventory to buying ads and promotions and following trends that might impact the business. And hey! It all takes place in Opportunity City!

Hot Shot business owners choose to open a pet spa, skateboard factory, or comic shop. Young entrepreneurs can take advice from Jack and Kate, the ever-present hosts and informal financial advisers who don't always agree. So decisions need to be made--and mistakes, too.

Once the business is set up, customers arrive, events happen, sales build, overhead is subtracted--all the things that happen in real-life businesses. If all is not well, players need to tweak their plan, make adjustments--before it's too late.

Although it’s free to play (just go to, this biz game is the same quality as those you buy in software stores. And it's a fantastic learning tool for youngsters interested in what it's like to start a business.
