Review:From a slinky ditty about the horrors of cafeteria food ("Grilled toenails with a side of bunions") to a bluesy bit about losing things ("When I think how much I'll miss it, you know it breaks my heart"), the twelve songs on this album cover a nice range of musical styles as they wander through the familiar territory of childhood tribulations and triumphs. The sprightly performances of lead singers Ezra Idlet and Keith Grimwood are backed by nimble instrumentation: violin, banjo, upright bass, guitars, percussion…even a police whistle courtesy of the local police department. Young listeners will happily join in the shouted chorus ("It was gross, gross, gross, gross!) when an alien is discovered lurking in a young man's nose, even as they smile in recognition at the feeling of being "King of My Mountain."
