Review:
One of Disney's most beloved movies, The Lion King on DVD is a beautiful package offering not just the blockbuster majestic film about a lion and the cub who must bravely take his place, but loads of extra features. The story has moments that are quite sad and scary, as Simba, the cocky little lion cub watches his strong and sure-footed father's fate, but in the end, the issue is one of taking responsibility and caring for others. Children and parents, both, will be moved. There are actually several different versions of the movie in the 2-disc set, including one with a new song, The Morning Report, added to the film. Other extras include deleted scenes, a sing along track, two new music videos, and games for kids including a virtual safari, a personality profile test and a Grab a Grub game. Sometimes the extras give you more than you could ever want -- you can even sing Hakuna Matata in Portuguese or Swedish. If you're just looking for wonderful family viewing, watch any version of the film and enjoy.
