Review:
Topical in its organization, the book gives large categories of interest a number (101 to be exact) of intriguing idea treatments. Lithgow explains that he executed many of these Palooza! activities with his own kids, sharing stories about those events with detail that convinced me that this is not a celebrity lending his name to someone else's work. Lithgow's Paloozaa are Lithgow's.

If you've lived long enough, you know that it is almost impossible to find NEW ideas.

In my opinion, so much of what is written today is just repurposed or repackaged. Palooza! is really new thinking. I was so motivated by the holiday Christmas pageant idea (Chapter Seven: Holiday Paloozas) that I found myself volunteering to spend the summer with my own as well as other middle school children rewriting the first Christmas story for execution next December at church. My husband is writing the lyrics for a new song that was inspired by Lithgow's storytelling in this chapter of ideas on holidays - and the music group at the church is willing to write some original music to go along with this new approach. And that was just from a few pages of text. Quite a testimony to the uniqueness of this book and its approach. Imagine will happen in your house with ideas like Poetry Slam or Hulapalooza or a Trip to Mars.

This book is fresh, inspired, accomplishable, genuinely fun and easy to use.
