Review:
Sang-hee's father has an important role in keeping Korea of the early 1800s safe. He lives in a strategic village by the sea, and every evening he climbs the nearest mountain to light the first bonfire signaling that no enemy ships have come. The light from the bonfire is passed from mountaintop to mountaintop all the way to the king's palace to tell the king that all is well. If the king doesn't see a fire on the closest mountain, he will send soldiers to the village.

One evening, when Sang-hee and his mother don't see the firelight, the boy is sent running up the mountain to discover what is wrong. He faces a moral dilemma. It’s an exciting adventure story told by an award winning author. The illustrations, often on double page spreads are soft; they glow.
