Review:
One Caldecott winner and three Caldecott honor picture books get the Weston Woods treatment in this enchanting collection of international folk tales.

Strega Nona written and illustrated by Tomie DePaola, is the story of a medieval witch and the magic of her pasta kettle. Joseph had a little Overcoat retold and illustrated by Simms Taback, and read here by Rob Reiner reminds us that you can always make something out of nothing. The bonus story Tale of the Mandarin Ducks by Katherine Paterson illustrated by Leo and Diane Dillon and Stone Soup retold and illustrated by Marcia Brown are read while the camera pans slowly over the illustrations of these classic stories.

The gentle pacing and the carefully measured readings teach lessons kindly. This is a strong selection of stories to add to your home library.
