Ages: 6 - 10 yrs.
Price: $3.99
The object of the game is to be the first player to play all her cards as she creates words by linking Onsets (word beginnings) and Rimes (word endings). Each player begins with three cards. Each card contains one of the following three combinations: 1.) a Rime and an Onset (e.g. “ank” and “b”, 2.) two of the same Onsets (e.g. “s” and “s”), 3.) two of the same Rimes (e.g. “at” and “at”). The game is played much like dominoes; the first player lays a card in the center of the play area and each player continues play by attaching cards to either the rimes or onsets to create 3,4 or 5 letter words. Our young testers enjoyed spelling silly words like “muck” or “spit” and liked that the game took up the entire living room floor when complete.

Although at first glance this game seems lack pizzazz, it proves to be a clever reading, spelling and vocabulary skill builder. It is easy to learn, simple to play and can played by as few as one and as many as six.
