Wagons ho!

The framework of this wonderful teaching tool and entertaining video is that a group of modern day children are playing a boardgame about pioneers. With each move on the board, a video takes the kids back to the days of the Old West where doing laundry wasn't easy and spelling bees were a favorite form of entertainment.

Because it's fast-paced and well-edited, the 23-minute video really takes you on a trip back in time. Through old photos, journal entries from the 1800s woven into the reenactments, life in early settlements in the West is portrayed in a very lively way. There won't be fidgeting in the audience when these pioneers come to visit. Yes, the video teaches about settlers' lives before computers and video games, but more important, it's a reminder of the tough pioneer spirit on which this country was built.
