Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka
Spring 2005 MusicReview:
The new movie's about to come out, the book is on bookshelves for the reading and you can rent the 1970s film, but if you'd like a taste of Roald Dahl's literary confection as a live stage musical, this well-produced cast album of songs from the Kennedy Center's 2004 production is an enjoyable treat. The music, by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newly, will be familiar from the older film; it is adapted for stage by Bricusse and Tim McDonald and nicely performed by a cast of theater pros.
