Bobby Norfolk is a storytelling engine. Norfolk's extraordinary vocal range, using dialect both authentic and respectful, bring larger than life characters to his clever story adaptations, will keep young listeners glued to these audio adventures. Each of these six stories is designed to build a specific character trait, such as patience, confidence, humility, obedience, and integrity.

Norfolk begins the collection with Moocher and the Butcher's Meat (an adaptation of Aesop's The Dog and His Shadow), which teaches a lesson about being too greedy. As a dog is walking home with a large piece of meat in his mouth, he sees his reflection in the water -but he wrongly perceives it as another dog carrying his own piece of meat. Greed causes the dog to attempt to get the meat from the "other dog," but when he opens his mouth to bark, his steak falls into the water and disappears.

The title story reminds us all that making our way in the world requires that we exhibit strong character, patience and courage. Not many lessons are as valuable - or timely.
