Review:
Claiming to get "the world into shape one kid at a time"™ the Kideosyncrasy DVD introduces dance as exercise, teaching seven fun dances along with standard good exercise habits. The dances are all taught and led by kids, who first demonstrate the dance and then follow with instructions. The instructions aren't always clear, but kids will have fun learning nonetheless. The kids in the video are friendly, real, and obviously enjoying the project. The subtle emphasis on social skills as well as physical movement is refreshing. The DVD follows the "exercise video" format--warm up, stretching, workout-and throws in regular tips about drinking water, stopping if something hurts, etc. but the kids in street clothes and tips and background information about the dances in "pop-ups" makes the DVD feel more like a music video. Caveats: the DVD begins with a dad driving three girls in a convertible and none of the girls is wearing a seatbelt; when teaching the Western line dance, one of the costumed kids pulls a toy gun from a holster.
