PBS Parents' Guide to Understanding and Raising Boys

PBS Parents' Guide to Understanding and Raising Boys

Spring 2006 Website
Review:
Most people think that girls are getting the societal short shrift, but over the last 20 years, the tables have actually turned. Raising Boys, a website that is a part of PBS Parents, tries to help parents deal with issues unique to raising boys. According to the PBS website, there are no shortage of issues: American boys, they say, are fifteen times more likely than girls to abuse drugs and alcohol, and twice as likely to die in a car crash. Boys are also 30 percent more likely than girls to drop out of high school. And women are currently earning 56 percent of the college degrees in the U.S. and 55 percent of the graduate degrees.

Sections of the site talk about the differences between aggressive boys versus simply active boys, raising emotionally sensitive boys, and other hot topics. A solid Q and A is also part of the site.
