Review:
The Juno Baby company was founded by composer Belinda Takahashi and her husband to provide preschool DVDs with music performed by a chamber orchestra rather than a synthesizer. Puppetry, animation, and live action provide a bright and gentle visual world underscored by selected classical music cues and Takahashi's wonderful original music. In this episode, Indie the tiger cat lets Juno, Bunny, Murphy and Buzz hide his beloved Teddy for Hide and Seek. Giving hints along the way, Indie eventually finds where Teddy has been hidden three different times. Though the hints were obvious enough even for our three-year old to get, both my sons were interacting with the program and shouting to Indie to help him along. They enjoyed the animated “Little Bird Flies” segment with the interlacing tree branches forming a music staff, and the repeating “Boom Chick” spoken fugue, but the unexplained live action segment where little girls “danced”, threw the viewers off base. English, French, and Spanish versions are all on one disc.
