Spring 2007 Television
Ages: 2 - 5 yrs.
Network: Discovery Kids Channel
Review:
The popular book series from Irish author Mary Murphy comes delightfully to life in eight-minute long, well-constructed segments featuring live action puppetry and bold primary colored animation. The show is designed not only to introduce educational concepts but to empower preschoolers in their quest for knowledge as well. PAZ, a fuzzy five-year-old penguin, is as optimistic as he is curious. It’s not unusual for PAZ, in his enthusiasm, to encounter a few roadblocks on his way to adventure. He has his mom, Big Penguin and his grandfather Pappy close by to lend a hand if needed, but mostly PAZ learns that persistence and optimism are key skills in overcoming adversity. The National Head Start Association and the National Association for Education of Young Children are part of the advisory board that helped develop the curriculum for the show.
