ZOOOOS

ZOOOOS

Spring 2007 DVD

Review:
The home interactive entertainment system market just gets more clogged each year, making it harder to choose what product is best for your family. Some systems are pricey, both for the consoles and the software titles, so the new ZOOOOS finds its opening into the market with its reasonable cost. Compatible with most DVD players, ZOOOOS is family friendly. However, set-up can be problematic. Although the choices appear intuitive, our testers found the auto set-up option frustrating and the manual set up virtually glitch-free. But once you've initialized the system, the experience for children is fairly smooth, with simple interactive directions and tantalizingly large, colorful buttons to push on the wireless handset. The system comes with two DVD games, featuring the characters of Sandy Lane, which engage children with alphabet, reading, writing, and counting activities. ZOOOOS also caters to Spanish-speaking children, and those who wish to learn some of the language, because it offers all of its programs in both Spanish and English (and sometimes French). ZOOOOS makes an apt starter into the world of electronic educational toys for toddlers and preschoolers. Although not tested, additional software titles (which range from Spider-Man to Thomas the Tank Engine) are available for around $15.
