Instructive kids' CDs can be too teacherly, but the lessons here are delivered with disarming creativity and humorous tweaking by veteran actress Flo Ayres and composer and multi-instrumentalist Lon Ephraim. Mannerly messages - toy clean-up, trying new foods, polite greetings, inside voices, "Blankie" etiquette -deftly mix with playful, tuneful bounce and colorful skits with comic characters Picky Ricky, Lazy Lucy, Miss Lottie Dah and more (voiced by Ayres). Instrumentals are top-notch. One stand-out: the jazz vibe in "Blankie." Among the musicians and background vocalists: Grammy-winners Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer.
