Review:
The four Willoughby children decide that becoming orphans would improve their lot in life immensely. They are correct; their parents are mean-spirited, generally dreadful, and have little use for their children, or anyone else's for that matter.

In this deliciously amusing parody, Lowry layers characters and events commonly found in old-fashioned children' s stories. With tongue firmly planted in cheek, the author breathes loads of fun into clich├ęs of an abandoned baby, a billionaire next door, a nanny more loving and responsible than the newly orphaned children's parents, and the return of a long lost son. Not to be missed.
