Review:

In her most daring assignment yet, WordGirl transforms a Web site devoted to language arts education into a fast-paced, action-packed site. Using classic superhero-style graphics, narration and adventures, the site features mild-mannered 5th grader Becky Botsworth who transforms into WordGirl from Planet Lexicon fully equipped with powerful abilities to define, spell and recall words.

The site has a variety of navigation options and a vast amount of content for children, adults, and teachers. Creative games include Comic Strip Capers, in which kids change the outcome of the comic strip by selecting a word that will determine what happens next. Finished comics can be printed or emailed. The site also offers printable coloring pages, bookmarks and word games plus a Parents and Teachers page packed with lesson plans, activities and resources all designed to instill a love of language in young children.

While content is updated regularly and the site even features a section where users can upload new vocabulary words, repeating games yielded the same questions and skill development, and some games cannot be completed unless the user has some knowledge of the show.
