Colorin Colorado
Fall 2008 WebsiteThe site is divided into areas for Educators and for Families, with content on how to help children succeed at school and downloadable reading tip-sheets for parents of children from infants through third grade. Information is presented through a variety of media, including Webcasts, podcasts, video, reports and articles. Worksheets are available in up to 11 different languages and some of the techniques even apply to emerging readers whose first language is English.
One of the site’s most valuable assets is its book recommendations, which are categorized for Kids, Teens and Adults and offer a Meet the Author section. Once you select a channel, detailed information including a suggested age range and a summary of the story is provided for each recommended book. The list of wordless books is an indispensable launch pad for pre-readers with or without parents who struggle with reading themselves.
