Pocoyo: Fun & Dance with Pocoyo

Pocoyo: Fun & Dance with Pocoyo

Fall 2008 DVD
Ages: 2 - 5 yrs.
Review:
Charming, inventive, and filled with inspired visuals, Pocoyo Fun & Dance is a deceptively simple animated short series intended to motivate the littlest of TV viewers to get moving - and thinking. Pocoyo is a curious young boy who explores familiar themes (sharing, following rules) with his troupe of ultra-kid-friendly pals, including a dancing pink elephant and a bright yellow duck whose feathered body, upon close inspection, is actually made from the letters d-u-c-k. Pocoyo is reminiscent of the popular series Blue Clues in that an unseen narrator and group of children interact with Pocoyo, posing questions and cheering correct answers. Beyond that, though, Pocoyo is a real original. Viewers can't help but be mesmerized by the imaginative animation, most notably, the fact that no one simply walks in this world. Pocoyo strolls, he saunters, he tumbles, he tramps. His graceful elephant pal twirls and tip-toes. And someone inevitably breaks out in a dance. The perfect antidote to cookie-cutter cartoons, Pocoyo Fun & Dance lays the groundwork to one day introduce your children to other unique forms of art. It's sweet, it's cool, it's creative. Parents are as likely to stay tuned as their kids.
