Kung Fu Panda

Kung Fu Panda

Fall 2008 Video Games
Ages: 8 - 12 yrs.
Price: $29.99
Gaming System: Nintendo DS
Review:
Fitting Dreamworks' movie-tie-in game on the tiny DS screen must've been a challenge. The DS version plays similar to the big-screen Xbox 360 but without the high-quality graphics and animation.

Storyline's the same and straight from the movie, too: Apprentice noodle maker Po the Panda daydreams of becoming a Kung Fu master. On his epic journey with his Kung Fu teacher Shifu, he saves his village.

Like so many platform games, this one's all about battling bad guys and breaking down barriers while earning gold coins and upgrades. What's not so common is how the game is played on DS, where all those fighting combos Po learns require using the DS stylus and buttons. For youngsters and budding videogamers who liked the movie, this game will provide a brief and fun addendum.
