Review:Kids love to see emergency vehicles going down the street, even more so if the lights are flashing and sirens are wailing. As frequently as children see fire trucks up close at school or community festivals, however, they might not know the big shiny rig with sparkling chrome and intriguing gauges and nozzles is really a hand-built custom vehicle. Every fire department in every municipality has its own unique needs for equipment stowage, pumping power and engine horsepower (even its exact preferred paint color) so each fire truck is custom made. Looking in on the Seagrave Fire Apparatus Company, viewers learn how an "apparatus" is designed and follow the fire department's approval process before it can be ordered and put into production. Then kids watch as the fire trucks are fabricated, tested, and then readied for delivery. With its reasonable price and undoubted kid appeal, this educational DVD is warmly recommended for families.
