Review:
Scholastic Media, in collaboration with CCI and Hu Hu Studios, presents Turbo Dogs, an animated series based on Bob Kolar's picture book "Racer Dogs." This collection of car-racing canines inhabits the town of Racerville and these mutts have much to say about teamwork, friendship, fair play, and good sportsmanship. The animation is very video-game-esque and music is punchy and fast-paced. Young viewers will recognize the kid-friendly messages and they'll cheer for the dogs who deliver them. Parents will appreciate the positive tone about dogs who are "friends to the finish line." But is Turbo Dogs a true standout?

Television has seen a glut of talking-animal programs of late, and they all seem to be pitching the same storylines. Turbo Dogs is certainly is pleasant and peppy viewing, even if it's not the most original and memorable in the landscape of similar shows. If your kids need an age-appropriate fun ride, you can feel comfortable dishing up an episode of Turbo Dogs. Turbo Dogs airs on qubo in the U.S. and CBC in Canada.
