Review:
Disney Imagineer Asa Kalama hosts several of Disney's DVDs devoted to the science of Imagineering, and he's a terrific choice: youthful, energetic, and able to convey a passion for science in entertaining and digestible morsels. Like the other Imagineering titles, "Gravity" is slickly produced, with quick edits, bouncy music and plenty of screen time for Disney theme parks and rides. But make no mistake; viewers will absorb the lessons in "Gravity." Kalama explains gravity, breaking down G-forces, mass, distance, air resistance, friction and so on, first from his Disney workplace and then on-site at such attractions as the Tower of Terror, Rockin' Rollercoaster, Matterhorn Bobsleds and Mission: Space. As for the bonus material, Kalama stands front and center again for a "Try It Yourself" segment devoted to making a hovercraft. Yes, a hovercraft. Now, pardon me, while I try to convince my kids to join me in assembling my hovercraft.
