Review:
Some games are beautifully made, but fail to ignite excitement among players. When it comes to games at our house, "handsome is as handsome does." It is a pleasure to report that Cornerstone delivers the goods in play value as well as aesthetics. This challenging and attractive wooden game requires spatial awareness and careful observation. Each player has the same assortment of pieces made of alternating cubes of light and dark wood. In a turn, a player must add a piece to the construction, while maintaining the alternating pattern in 3 dimensions. Think of it as 3-D Blokus, with a touch of Jenga thrown in for good measure.

All members of our family enjoyed this game, peering intently at our growing creation. It took on the feel of a co-operative effort rather than a competition, which is fine by me. With an older group, it could be more contentious. There are rule variations that require more expertise as your skill increases. One added benefit to the game is that it looks good enough to leave out on the table, sort of a modern art centerpiece.
