Review:
Edward, dressed in his finest, is making his first trip to Hawthorne Farm to visit with Cousin Judy, Uncle Earl and Aunt Josephine.

On the farm where folks get up early, sheep brush their teeth at the watering trough, pigs rub the sleep from their eyes, and mice work a mini butter churn, Edward’s city ways and wardrobe are out of place. As much as Edward tries – and wants - to lend a hand with the farm chores, his earnest efforts are no match for his inexperience. He falls in the mud, grabs a ram by the tail, and steps in a maple syrup bucket, all before dinner.

Teague’s almost deadpan text serves as straight man to his begging-to-be-investigated illustrations. From the homage to American Gothic front, to the back cover illustration with the hilarious unwritten caption “How did you do that?” Teague treats us to pages of barnyard friendly antics.
