Review:
Here, the world’s history is broken down into six eras: Neanderthal life to a more civilized period straddling BC and AD to the middle ages, then onto 1400-1699, followed by the industrial revolution from 1700-1899 and 1900 to the present. Each of these eras is cleverly presented a series of highly graphic as well as comic interpretations. Some facts are written as newspaper articles, some as video games, others as posters, puzzles, billboards, or journal entries. Its incredibly wide array of information never seems overwhelming as each major event can be easily read in a page or two. Tired of the Stone Age? Skip to the back to Joseph Stalin’s life and questionable accomplishments by reading his report card, including entries from Mr. Gulag, his history teacher, who comments that, “Joseph is always trying to rewrite history.”
