Review:One way to get children exercising is to pique their interest with a story and ask them to play along. In this case, the "playing" involves using age-appropriate yoga poses, renamed to represent different animals or actions in the stories. For example, instead of doing "pose of the child," children are asked to pretend they're an egg in "Condor Trek." Instead of being told to do "warrior pose," the children are shown the stance and told to pretend they're surfing in "Save the Whale." Filmed in beautiful outdoor locations, certified yoga instructor Ahmed Fahmy has a good rapport with the children. Even when some of the kids don't show perfect form, Fahmy continues the story (demonstrating the proper way) without correcting the individuals; it makes this more of a storytime and less of a yoga class. Both episodes include the yoga elements that culminate in the sun salutation, followed by a relaxation period. Although we would have liked to have seen a more multi-cultural group of kids participating, and less addressing the children as "guys", the overall messages of taking care of one's health and being mindful of the earth's well-being are positive.
