Tikatok
Spring 2010 WebsiteStory Spark, a section full of ideas and prompts, is available to help ward off writer's block and/or to let users finish a pre-designed story. After many attempts on multiple visits, we finally got the very helpful Book Editor section--"dedicated to those who like to press buttons first and ask questions later"--to work. Use of the site, its tools and the saving of the "books" is free, but young publishers can choose to have their books printed in a variety of reasonably priced formats - hardcover ($18), paperback ($15) or PDF e-books ($2.99).
While Tikatok can be used to create a variety of unique gifts, or perhaps even extra credit work, our panelists wanted to see a section that delved further into the story-telling process. Still, even the youngest writers will be setting up living room readings and autograph sessions and no doubt garnering a great sense of accomplishment by seeing their work in print. Barnes and Noble knows how to find e-merging talent.
