Review:
Rebecca Frezza and Big Truck are kind of a modern day Josie and the Pussycats - minus the Saturday morning cartoon. Swinging little pop tunes are presented in a light rock and roll sauce. This extended play CD, clocking in at just under 23 minutes, provides remixes of two songs ("Big Truck" and "Superman") found on the group's 2002 Music In My Heart release, as well as six new songs and a video of their remixed "Big Truck" theme. "Rock Like This" is basically The Who repackaged for the under eight crowd, while "Motorcycle Boy" sounds a bit like Big Brother and the Holding Company, and "Robot Dancer" features 80s style Devo/Blondie, machine rhythms. "Rocketship" takes a jerky, Talking Heads approach, and "Smiling Moon" is a nifty rock ballad to the seasons. Roscoe Orman from Sesame Street guests on "Hey-O," a sort of rocking redressing of "Day-O." The album's sole intention seems to be to get little fannies a shaking, and dancing, which it does very successfully. As a short and inexpensive introduction to band's more fully realized material, this EP is of good value.
