Review:For students and teachers of American history, the multi-talented Hudson River Ramblers, provide a lively, if compacted, 400-year history of the Hudson River. Beginning with Henry Hudson's 1609 expedition to find a Northwest Passage to the orient - but resulting in the discovery of this remarkable body of water - songs, ballads, myths, and story vignettes render an historical summary of major events relating to the mighty river. A pirate (Captain Kidd), a devil (Spuyten Duyvil), and a legendary character (Mahicanituck) are among the many and diverse characters we meet along the way. The contrasting presentation styles of this historical information serve to enliven, energize, and awaken the senses while sharing a meaningful period of America's past.
