Sound Shaker
Spring 2010 Mobile AppsZinc Roe design offers a suite of bright and colorful apps for the youngest user/learners. Tickle Tap Toddler Pack - a best buy for $4.99 - includes (alphabetically of course) Count Caddy, Field Flier, Pattern Painter, Sort Slider, and Sound Shaker. With its welcoming continuity of voice and characters, this age-appropriate playful prologue is deliciously intriguing to those eager to learn. Although we'd love to see more levels of play and have the challenges increase as the child's appetite for learning grows, this fistful of apps offers a charming introduction to learning anytime and anywhere.
Sound Shakerteaches kids about sounds. Users choose from six different kinds of sounds (chimes, a whistle, drums, barnyard sounds, a xylophone or mystery sounds) and then tap to drop those sounds onto the screen in the form of balls that bounce around and play the sounds. The longer they hold their finger on a chime sound, the higher the pitch. A change in pitch is noted by a change in size and color of the ball. Alternatively, on the barnyard sounds, as they hold their finger it changes the animal noise that it makes. Release the trigger finger and the sound ball drops to bottom of the screen. Tilting the iPhone from side to side moves the sound balls around and play their sounds as they bump into each other.
