Review:

Classical guitarist Hilary Field and soprano Patrice O'Neill follow up their beautiful "Night Songs" release, "Siente," with another well-chosen collection of lovely and tender lullabies from Europe, Asia and Latin America-researched and often arranged by Field. This collaborative effort is textured with a sense of story communicated through the expressiveness of Field's accompaniment and O'Neill's vocals and soft instrumentation performed by more gifted classical musicians. "Cantilena," we're told in the liner notes, "is an Italian musical term for a smooth, flowing melodic line"-and that surely defines this sweet caress of an album.
