Review:

Jeremy Plays Guitar is singer/songwriter/guitarist Jeremy Zmuda, who is aided by vocalist Joy Dragland, bassist Alan Hampton, and percussionists Leo Sidran and Rich Stein. Their debut album Use Your Words is in the quirky and fun sonic tradition of bands like They Might Be Giants. Songs such as "House Rules," " Your Turn, My Turn," "Differently," and the title track, teach lessons in boundaries, sharing, diversity and communication. Other highlights include "You'll Be Fine," which is a song about bravery; "I Meant To Do That," which explores coordination; and "Say Hello," a charming little tale about learning to greet people. Jeremy Plays Guitar uses the medium of pop songs to convey these important life lessons in a way that is poignant, silly, and fun. Parents will appreciate the band's superior musicianship and intelligent lyrics, and kids will respond to their childlike qualities. Use Your Words is a little gem, and a preview of what one hopes will becomes a long lasting and growing band.
