Scoop Em UpFall 2010 Games
The Scoop 'Em Up game by International Playthings, Inc. is an entertaining game of coordination and motor planning. It includes an ice cream cone base, one ice cream cone, twelve multi-colored scoops of ice cream and one scooper. At the center of the table is a stand holding an ice cream cone; children take turns seeing how many of the twelve ice cream scoops they can pick up and place on top with the scooper. Whoever builds the highest cone wins.
The pieces are made of quality plastic and are of just the right size for smaller hands. Using the scooper adds difficulty to the game which already works fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and motor planning. The game encourages turn-taking, following of instructions, and basic good sportsmanship.
Rules for play are simple enough for the youngest of players, but challenging and entertaining enough to engage older siblings (and the occasional parent) as well. The instructions even include alternate ways of playing the game. And as long as you can keep the pieces out of your toy grocery carts and freezers, this could be a lasting addition to family game night.
