Review:

The Trimino Bugs package claims it will appeal to ages three and up, but make no mistake: this is a delightful preschooler's toy, but it will not appeal to older children. The set consists of several triangular pieces, each with three half bugs on it, one each in red, yellow, and blue. A layer of plain wooden pieces allow the child to make a basic design template on which to lay out the colorful pieces, being careful to match bugs by color. Our young testers had fun copying the handful of patterns in the instruction manual, though it took them only seconds to assemble each one and there are not enough pieces to make anything truly complex or challenging to older children. However, the pieces are visually very appealing (we especially liked the ladybugs), and realizing that the pieces are not identical and that some re-arranging may be necessary could pose a fun and interesting challenge to a preschooler.
