Review:

Ranger Rick, published ten times annually by the National Wildlife Federation, is a time-tested and notable offering for children ages 7 - 10 interested in learning about wildlife. It includes comic strips, stories with photographs, craft ideas, games and puzzles as well as some reader-submitted content. Its photos and layout consistently impress. Top features include "What Good Are Bugs?" - which explains how the creatures pollinate, recycle waste, and provide food - and "How to Green Your Parents." The latter contains quizzes, checklists, and success stories that will inspire parents and children to be more resource-conscious. We especially appreciate the magazine manages to be almost entirely ad-free, its only promotions being for other National Wildlife Federation magazine titles.
