Stomple
Spring 2011 ToysStomple is a strategy game in which players push colored marbles through the game board in an attempt to trap other players into a position with no available move while avoiding being trapped themselves. Players can move from a randomly chosen starting position on the edge of the board to any adjacent marble, stringing connecting marbles of the same color together into one move; players can hop to marbles of their own color anywhere on the board. The last player left with available moves wins the round, and points are scored based on how many marbles (of standard or "bonus" colors) are remaining. Thus players wish to protect marbles of their own color and of the bonus color, while eliminating as many marbles of their opponents' colors. Play is for two to six players. We played several games with two or three players. Points rack up quickly, so a single game lasts only a few rounds and does not take a long time. While we enjoyed the basic strategy as we figured out the rules, some players may dislike the extent to which the game depends on luck.
