Review:

Someone has left a mysterious message in Grammie's journal- the salty pirate Longbeard needs your kids' or grandkids' help to keep his treasure safe from mangy marauders! The only problem is that he has forgotten where he hid his loot. Follow the clues on an adventure to find a special treasure.

The Search for Longbeard's Treasure by GrandCamp Adventures is a fun-filled treasure hunt with virtually limitless possibilities. Although geared specifically towards cultivating relationships between grandchildren and grandparents, the activity can be set-up and enjoyed by anyone. Adults, perhaps with the help of older children, hide a series of clues inside or outside the house; ultimately the clues lead to whatever those adults have chosen to be the treasure (a special family picture, heirloom, etc.). The game can be as simple or as complicated as is appropriate for those playing; the instructions include a wide variety of game suggestions catering to different skill levels: readers, non-readers, younger and older children, etc. The game can last for minutes or hours depending on how it is planned. Action cards are alternated with clue cards so that players have the opportunity to talk and perform actions during the hunt.

The game encourages family time, physical activity and creative problem solving while engaging children in hours of imaginative play. It is very refreshing to see an old-fashioned, classic game, such as a treasure hunt, re-imagined for today's children. The activity offers good, wholesome fun and genuinely entertaining family time. For its entertainment, uniqueness and family value, this game is a true treasure.
