Review:

Tetris Link is a table-top game based on the classic Tetris video game. Players roll a die on which each side shows either a tetronimo or a "Wild" symbol. Tetronimos, as video game fans will know, are flat shapes made from four adjoining squares, and there are four of them in this game. The roll determines what each player will drop into the upright grid as they try to connect to other pieces of their own color. The trick is to avoid leaving empty spaces on the board. Counters along the side of the board allow players to track progress, with connecting pieces being awarded points and empty spaces deducting them. Strategic play is important to prevent opponents from forming too many links, but there is an element of luck due to the roll of the die. Even a 6-year-old tester found the game compelling, and age did not provide a dramatic advantage or disadvantage. Kids pulled the game out repeatedly over the entire evaluation period and even introduced friends to it, to a very positive reception all around. The only drawback was that pieces occasionally got stuck when the game board was emptied. A Connect-Four-like drop bar below the game would have been a useful addition.
