chickaDEE
Spring 2012 MagazinesChickaDEE magazine appeals to children, though they might occasionally become overwhelmed by the amount of content on a single page. The content is diverse, with a nice blend of fun facts, engaging and related activities, and 'did you know' kind of information. Children have a difficult time discerning advertisements from content at this age, however, so highlighting advertisements in a different way (or better yet, removing them completely) would strengthen the magazine.
Ultimately, this magazine survived the 'pick up test' in our house. When left on a table with other books and magazines, this one was regularly picked up and skimmed. My son especially enjoyed the humor issues, and still shares jokes with us and his friends. The content and reading is age appropriate, and offers science-themed pages alongside the humor.
