Review:

Spider, described in their tagline as "the magazine for children," has a language arts focus for early and middle elementary school children. The issues include a compilation of short stories, poems, and jokes, including material sent in by their young readers. Every issue also includes a non-fiction article and at least one craft, recipe, or game. This variety of writing helps children gain experience with a range of types of text. There is plenty of eye-appeal as well, with abundant illustrations done in various styles and media. This is a well-executed magazine for kids who love language, as well as a good way to draw in more reluctant readers.
