Motion Math: Hungry Fish

Motion Math: Hungry Fish

Spring 2012 Mobile Apps
Ages: 4 - 12 yrs.
Developer: Motion Math
Platform: iPad

The Motion Math: Hungry Fish iPad app is a cute, easily accessible, intuitively-designed game in which children use number recognition and basic math facts to feed their virtual fish. The fish, which children can customize with a variety of colors and fins earned during game play, is labeled with the number that it wishes to eat. Players can find the number directly or correctly combine other numbers to create the desired sum. The app has eighteen difficulty levels which include number matching, basic addition, bigger numbers and challenging (an accurate description from our experience). The available upgrades allow players to practice additional math skills such as subtraction and negative numbers through game play in supplemental caves. Math Motion states that their games improved math test scores by 15% and attitudes towards math by 10%.
