FlapzSpring 2012 Games
Flapz is a fun highly portable game that is great to bring along on trips. Flapz is a handheld game designed like the extremely popular "cootie catchers" (paper fortune tellers). One player puts his or her fingers into the four corner pockets of the origami square and ask another player to pick a number. You then count up to that number while simultaneously opening and closing the alternating corners of the paper. Once you count to the designated number, you have the person pick a color (there is a different color on all four corners). Next you open the flap associated with that color and inside are 12 different activities you can have the person do (you have them do the activity associated with the number they originally chose). The activities range from passive activities (such as sing a song in a made up language or yawn until you make someone else yawn) to more active activities (such as jump as high as you can with your hands on your head). There are ninety-six different activities increasing the long term play value.
This is a great find for any family who has a school age child who loves cootie catchers. It's fun, durable, and easy to use. Best of all, the Tyvek material used to create this toy feels like paper, but is actually waterproof and impossible to tear (we tried!).
This game is more fun than educational. It is very well made and completely portable. One of our tester families brought it on two long car rides, and their girls loved it. As cootie catcher are very popular in many schools, we imagine this version, with age appropriate and fun activities, will be a big hit with parents, teachers, and kids.
