Sometimes you can judge a book by its cover (and it's breathtakingly long subtitle.) Fake Mustache's cover shot of a cute and freckled Casper Bengue, his face curled up in a snarl beneath a long bushy mustache, promises fun and delivers it in bunches.

It's Casper's 13th birthday and his best friend Lenny Flem takes him to Sven's Fair Price Store to blow his birthday money from Nana Nookums. At Sven's you can find fake noses, fake thumbs, fake teeth and fake feet, but as Lenny and Casper learn the hard way, stay away from the fake mustaches. They're made out of mustache hair from real people and cost a fortune, but there's something else odd about them, too. Casper buys a Heidelberg Handle Bar #7 and a man-about-town suit, and the hijinks that follow are hysterical.

Within hours of the boys leaving Sven's, the bank is robbed by a man-about-town who fits Casper's description to a tee. Yet when Lenny checks in on him, Casper is cool as a cucumber, in spite of the gold bars spilling out of his room. A number of similarly blatant but inexplicable events unfold that force Lenny to disguise himself as the teen cowgirl queen Jodie O'Rodeo. When the real Jodie O'Rodeo comes on the scene and blows his cover, the two team up to stop Fako Mustacho from ruling the world. The whole gig blows up in a wild showdown at Hairsprinkle Municipal Stadium.
