Review:

Fans of the Benjamin Pratt series will be eager to follow the middle schooler as his adventure continues. In this third installment, Ben and Jill are still trying to outwit Lyman, an assistant janitor on his own quest to destroy the Captain Duncan Oakes School. Ben has been made a Keeper of the School with his own set of keys to the building, all the better for finding the secret safeguards hidden around the property that hold the answer to saving Oakes from being turned into theme park grounds. Ben thinks that Memorial Day Weekend is the perfect time to do some searching, but as always he discovers it's not so easy with Lyman on his heels. He just might have to call in some extra help. Author Andrew Clements continues to demonstrate a gift for both storytelling and capturing the ear of a young audience. In addition, he weaves in history that proves illuminating for both the young heroes and their readers. The audio version, read by actor Keith Nobbs, is even longer than the previous two books at four hours. But as the plot continues to thicken and the suspense to build, listeners will find that the time passes all too quickly.
