Review:

A pout-pout fish has a pout-pout face, so naturally he thinks that all he can do is "spread the dreary-wearies all over the place." His undersea friends do their best to try and get him to offer a smile or two, but the pout-pout fish feels he hasn't any other choice but to be glum. That is, until someone comes along and gets him to look at his expression in an entirely new way.

The story The Pout-Pout Fish is simple and engaging, with an appealing rhyme scheme and fun illustrations. The audio version has two tracks, one for listening and one for reading along. Both tracks feature upbeat ukulele music, and the read-along track guides children with the sound of bubbles when it's time to turn the page. An interesting bit of trivia: the story is read by Alexander Gould, who as a child was the voice of Nemo in the popular Disney film Finding Nemo. This is a good choice for young children, and a nice introduction to talking about emotions and how others perceive you.
