Glamorous Glasses

Fall 2012 Picture Books
Ages: 4 - 8 yrs.

A picture book can be a helpful tool to help a child adjust to new situations, such as getting glasses or braces. But the fun twist in Barbara Johansen Newman's new book Glamorous Glasses is that one of the characters wants glasses but doesn't need them. In fact, she's jealous of her cousin's new specs, and the girls decide to trade. However the experiment doesn't go as planned; it turns out that while glasses may be glamorous, they're not much fun when you can't see properly. Newman's illustrations are full of comic detail and candy colors. This is a fun book for handling the topic of glasses, as well as a sweet story about friendship.
