The Frank ShowFall 2012 Picture Books
David Mackintosh, author of Marshall Armstrong is New to Our School returns to the classroom for the setting of The Frank Show.
This time, students are getting ready for a Show and Tell session in which they each must choose a person and talk for a full minute about the things that person likes and what kind of person they are. It would be easy, were it not for the competition. Marlon has a cool musician uncle, Kristian's dad is a TV comedian, Fay's cousin works for an airline, and Saul's aunt swam the English Channel. The only person available left for Mackintosh's narrator to talk about is grandpa Frank, who is bound to be embarrassing with his complaints and his claim that he knows when it's going to rain because his arm hurts.
In a tale that celebrates the fun (and pride) of uncovering the storied lives of an older generation, Mackintosh infuses the protagonists with honesty and humor, and details every page with illustrations to investigate, point at, and talk about.
